Gligoriejević’s works are of an abastract sculptural nature. Produced from a combination of techniques where assemblages of industrial machine parts, sourced from the early 20th century as well parts from the peak era of technology within the aviation industry; specifically parts from the Douglas DC-9 I Boinga 727. For years the artist has hand selected his medium with specificity and persistancy. With no blueprints or sketches the artist creates directly from his mind’s ideas. Assembling modularly each sculpture one by one, each with its individual expression.
Gligoriejević constructs his pieces based on the readymade materials, used as they are, untouched by the artist. The parts are incorporated into each sculpture in their original form. Thusly, the artist does not neglect the idea of his art’s appearance, he simply builds on to each sculpture with aesthetic ideas very much present as he adds each individual part. He articulates rules of beauty, found in specific, subjective truths: rhythm, harmony, proportion, subjective sensibility…etc. Hence the result being a sculpture assembled through a journey of metal associations. Each piece is a pleasant surprise at the end of its own construction.
