Milan Čuk is a painter-figurative mosaic artist and expert in conservation and restoration of murals.
In 2008 he finished his education at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, with his main focus on conservation and restoration of paintings. Near the end of his studies he participated in projects concerning the protection of cultural heritage of Serbia. Čuk worked on the conservation of frescoes in monasteries throughout Serbia: Ziča, Grančanica, Pećka, Patrijaršija, Dečani, Sopoćani, Studenica, Hilandar among other important monuments.
His search for a personal medium of expression lead him to the traditional technique of mosaics. For the past few years Čuk has worked on a series of mosaics titled “Mosaics from Another Universe”. Inspired by modern mythology from comic books, his mosaics attempt to revive superheroes through the aid of stones and glass, personifying them immortalizing them through the use of mosaics.
